Should I be worried about the EPC rating?

Published by on

The EPC is the Energy Performance Certificatre and it forms part of the home report for your property when you sell.

On the Home Report, the EPC rating is quite poor – Should I be worried?

The surveyor will have been to see your property and has provided you with a draft of the Single Survey Valuation and the Energy Performance Certificate (the EPC). You have a look at the draft EPC and noted that your rating is quite poor - perhaps below the national average for Scotland. Should you be worried?

No.

Although the EPC is a legal requirement when selling your home in Scotland, typically buyers are not overly concerned about the rating. In our experience to date, the successful marketing of any of the properties we have marketed and sold in and around Edinburgh has not be hindered by a poor energy performance rating, or indeed improved by a good energy performance rating.
