A guide to the Easter Road area of Leith, Edinburgh, including history, property and amenities.

Largely known as the homeground of one of Edinburgh's most famous football teams - Hibernian - Easter Road is large street East of Edinburgh city centre, parallel with Leith Walk.

Consisting of mainly residental tenenment properties, with a bustling selection of shops below, Easter Road is an area of Edinburgh which remains popular with people in need of a home close to the City Centre, whilst still being relatively affordable. Walking up Easter Road you are greeted with beautiful views of Salisbury Crags.


Easter Road is just East of Edinburgh City Centre; either within walking distance with a pleasant walk along London Road or via frequent bus routes, both from Easter Road directly, or from the top/bottom (London Road/Duke Street). Easter Road is a busy road for traffic being a route inwards and outwards of the Leith area of Edinburgh. Parking is available but generally limited to on-street with many area being reserved permit-holders only.

Places to Visit

  • Hibernian Stadium - If you're a football fan then it's worth dropping by the Hibernian Easter Road Stadium, either on match day or to visit the Clubstore. The Stadium is also available for hire for events such as conferences, receptions and dinners.
  • Wonder World Soft Play - For the kids, there's no place quite like Wonder World Soft Play. Where the infamous Leith Waterworld used to be based (at the bottom of Easter Road), Wonder World is a massive soft play, suitable for all ages, with a number of play frames, arcade games, mini go-karts and a large cafe area. It is also available for birthday parties and even has free wi-fi and parking available outside.

Places to Eat and Drink

  • If you're looking for good hearty Italian food, then Al Dente is a lovely restaurant, right in the heart of Easter Road. They offer fresh, authentic Italian food, within a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
  • For drinks you'll not be short of places on Easter Road but perhaps the most welcoming is the Mash Tun. With regular live music and a weekly quiz night, you'll find it's the friendiest of places to drink on Easter Road, without the fear of being dressed in the wrong football colours.
