Historically a village of its own, Duddingston is located in the East of Edinburgh, on the edge of Holyrood Park. It still maintains much of it's history with cobbled street and sites like Duddingston Kirk - Scotland's oldest pub is also located within this desirable area. It's also home to Duddingston Loch which has been used for ice skating and curling in centuries gone by; in present times however it is a nature reserve, owned by the Scottish Ministers and managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

Location

Duddingston is easily accessible via road, either through Holyrood Park or from Milton Road or Craigmillar. The number 42 Lothian Bus travels through Duddingston, connecting you with nearby Portobello, the City Centre and even as far as Craigleith Retail Park.

Places to Visit

  • Duddingston Kirk - With worship having taken place here as far back as the 12th centuary, Duddingston Kirk certainly has a lot of history in Edinburgh. It is also a popular choice of venue for weddings, given it's beautiful stature and stunning gardens surrounding.
  • Duddingston Loch - If nature is your thing, Duddingston Loch is the place to be. Home to many species of wildfowl, you're sure to see an insight to nature which you won't find anywhere else in the city.

Places to Eat & Drink

  • Duddingston is home to Scotland's oldest pub, The Sheeps Heid Inn. Not only has it been around for centuaries, it also serves good grub! Whether it's a pint after a stroll around Aruthur's Seat or a sit-down meal that you're after, the Sheeps Heid are sure to oblige.
