2017 Christmas Interior Trends

What trends are featuring in this years Christmas decorations?

The time is upon us. There’s no denying it now.

At the risk of opening the debate over when the right time to decorate your home for Christmas is, let’s talk about this years interior trends for Christmas.

Hygge

Taking inspiration from the danish, hygge is a trend that has been present in interiors for a couple of years now and Christmas gives no exceptions. Think classic cosy colours, candles & log fires and lots of cushions & blankets. The perfect setting to come home to after a winter commute across Edinburgh.

Frozen

Turning your home into Arrandale in July is a sure way to please any Disney fan. What appears to be taking inspiration from the 2013 film, the Frozen theme consists of lots of white, silver, blues, pearls and hints of lilac. Anything that will transform your home into a frozen wonderland that even Elsa would be impressed by.

Exotic

Breaking expectations of what is traditionally ‘Christmassy’, the exotic trend brings an entire rainbow of colours to your Christmas tree. Feathers, jewels, fuscia, turquoise, gold...anything that looks like it was founded in far-off shores will fit right in with this trend and leave your home looking somewhat regal.

Animals

Llamas are popping up all over the place this year, with tree decorations, ornaments and even linens dawning these comical South American mammals. They might not be an obvious Christmas association (unless Santa has upgraded his reindeer!) but put a Christmas hat on one and suddenly they’re pretty festive. The same goes for pugs whom have had great popularity all year round and now can’t escape the photoshopping of a Santa hat to bring them through December.
